Community Development District 2 will be putting up signs to try to deter parking hogs in villa units.
A large group of residents of the Vera Cruz Villas in the Village of Santo Domingo showed up at Friday morning’s CDD 2 meeting to express their frustration with vehicle owners filling up the supplemental parking areas. They complained that there is no place for their caregivers and visitors to park.
“We hear this constantly, constantly, constantly. We need to do something,” said Supervisor Barton Zoellner.
District Counsel Valerie Fuchs said another CDD has tried signs reminding vehicle owners that the parking is offered on a “temporary” basis. Those signs have enjoyed some success.
“Most people in villas are very friendly and don’t want to ruffle a lot of feathers,” said CDD 2 Supervisor Bill Schikora, who added that the signage might be enough of a deterrent.
Villa parking continues to be a problem in The Villages. Community Development District 5 supervisors wrestled with the subject last month. You can read more about that HERE
