Vets and Pets Poker Run to benefit local veterans and shelter pets

Enjoy a scenic day touring your motorcycle or car through Sumter and Citrus counties knowing it will help support area VFWs and the Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County.  This joint venture will begin and end at VFW Post 10048 in beautiful Lake Panasoffkee on Saturday, Nov. 1 (raindate 11/08). For a $20 donation, participants can enjoy a friendly game of 5 Card Draw Poker when they get a card at each of the designated stops.

Upon return to the Lake Panasoffkee VFW, a great BBQ lunch of either pulled pork or chicken quarter and two sides for $6 will benefit the local Men’s Auxiliary while enjoying the sounds of local musical talent.

Participants and their passengers can register from 8-9 a.m., engines roll out by 9:30 a.m. and it is suggested to return before 2 p.m. to take part in the silent auction and enjoy the live music with lunch.

The “Vets & Pets” Poker Run route is as follows:

Starting point/Registration: Lake Panasoffkee V.F.W. at 2027 N C.R. 470

Stop 1- Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County, 994 C.R. 529A, Lake Panasoffkee

Stop 2- V.F.W. of Bushnell at 6036 CR 618

Stop 3-V.F.W. of Floral City at 8237 S. Florida Ave.

Stop 4-V.F.W. of Hernando at N. Carl G. Rose Hwy.

Stop 5- V.F.W. of Inverness at 906 Highway 44 E

Total mileage from start to finish is 73.91 miles.
