Vehicle strikes Publix employee in parking lot at Colony Plaza
Emergency personnel tend to a Publix employee struck in the parking lot.

A Publix employee was transported to The Villages Regional Hospital after he was struck by a vehicle at 11:15 a.m. Friday in the parking lot at Colony Plaza shopping center.

The victim was transported to TVRH with non-life threatening injuries, said Villages Public Safety Battalion Chief Jackie Tuggerson.

The driver was interviewed by a deputy from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The Publix at Colony is frequently considered to be the busiest grocery store in The Villages with the parking lot at capacity, particularly at this busy time of year.
