Two men are facing charges of false imprisonment and aggravated battery after a night of dancing at Spanish Springs Town Square took a nasty turn.
A 51-year-old female victim wound up with several broken bones in her right hand and required stitches to her head. She was taken to The Villages Regional Hospital as the result of the attack on Dec. 4.
Daniel Stephen Turay, 47, and Toby Best, 39, both of Howey in the Hills, showed up to take the woman dancing, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. But they had to leave the square after getting into verbal altercations with people who were there. They got into a vehicle and took the woman against her will and later slammed her hand with a trunk lid when she tried to retrieve her purse. She was later pushed out of the vehicle, the report indicated.
After interviewing the woman at the hospital, a detective obtained arrest warrants for Turay and Best.
They were taken into custody Dec. 16 and booked at the Lake County Jail. Each has since been released after posting $15,000 bond apiece.
Both have previous criminal histories.
