The District 33 seat opened last month following the death of Rep. Don Hahnfeldt. Hage shared that he was in the process of officially entering the race to be Rep. Hahnfeldt’s replacement.

A seventh generation Floridian, he has served as president of the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce since 2014. He was also awarded East Central Region Volunteer of the Year award by Florida Economic Development Council earlier this month.

Hage listed his beliefs in faith, family, freedom and opportunity, and also described his shared strong support in President Trump.

Though he has the support of leaders of the club, Hage told the crowd that he if he chooses to run, he would need their help.

Hahnfeldt was a freshman legislator and former Sumter County commissioner.

The evening’s guest speaker was Fox News pundit and author Nick Adams, whose last visit to The Villages was in September 2016. The Green Card Warrior author shared his story of how he was diagnosed with stage four cancer as a baby, but his life was saved by an American doctor. Since then, Adams has lauded American exceptionalism and became a U.S. citizen legally through an eight year process.

”Political Correctness is killing the United States of America,” said Adams in discussing the culture war taking place in the country. To combat “anti-Americanism,” Adams founded the Foundation for Liberty and American Greatness to educate students and families on civics, history and Americanism.

In preparation of this year’s Midterm Election, Gee says that the group is looking for candidates like Hage who will carry out President Trump’s agenda and align with the beliefs of Trump. These candidates are projected to speak with the group in May.
