Suspect in Spanish Springs beating retains attorney, enters plea

A teen suspect in the June 5 fatal attack on a McCall’s Tavern employee has hired a criminal defense attorney.

Brice Hall, 19, of Weirsdale, is facing a charge of manslaughter in the death of 26-year-old Austin Stevens.

Hall has entered a plea of not guilty to the charge that he ran up behind Stevens and punched him on the side of his head knocking him to the ground, where his head struck the concrete. Stevens died a few days later at Ocala Regional Medical Center. To read more about the incident, click HERE

Hall has retained criminal defense attorney Stacy Youmans of Blanchard, Merriam, Adel & Kirkland. The Florida native and former prosecutor has extensive courtroom experience, including having tried more than sixty cases before a jury.

Hall has entered a plea of not guilty in the case and remains free on $10,000 bond.

His co-defendant, 18-year-old Nicholas Metcalfe of Belleview,  is accused of kicking an unconscious Stevens in the face as he lay on the concrete that night at the square.

Metcalfe is facing a charge of felony battery. He is free on $5,000 bond.

He will be relying on the public defender’s office, according to Lake County Court records.
