Residents of District 10 are looking for additional obstacles to keep cars off the golf cart paths.
During Monday’s Project Wide Advisory Committee, District 10 Supervisor Don Wiley brought up a point of concern that his residents have expressed recently.
“In District 10, there are no bollards on the golf cart paths near the gates,” said Wiley.
Bollards are the white, plastic poles that you see along the cart paths that prevent larger vehicles from erroneously entering the paths.
Wiley said that there has been an “increasing issue of automobiles turning down the golf cart paths” and that residents voiced their concerns during the recent “Government Day” held by The Villages.
District Property management director Sam Wartinbee indicated that the issue had been acknowledged and a solution was in play.
“Two different residents made comments about that at Government Day,” said Wartinbee.
Wartinbee asserted that flexible bollards would be installed at the Hillsborough and Pinellas gates, and hopes that they remind motorists of the distinction between the thoroughfares.
