Sumter County personnel investigate sinkhole at Buena Vista Boulevard and 466A

Sumter County personnel responded to the site of a sinkhole Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Buena Vista Boulevard and County Road 466A in The Villages.

Lt. John Longacre of The Villages Public Safety Department confirmed the sinkhole was located in the north turn lane on the eastbound side of the roadway.

Orange cones surround the sinkhole at Buena Vista Boulevard and County Road 466A.

Personnel from the Sumter County Road and Bridges Department were evaluating the situation.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were diverting traffic away from the area where the sinkhole formed.
