Stonecrest couple has rude awakening when burglar breaks in, leaves on their motorcycle

A Stonecrest couple had a rude awakening on Tuesday morning after a burglar broke into their home and left on their motorcycle.

A neighbor roused the couple by ringing their doorbell at 7 a.m. Tuesday, and pointed out to them there was debris in their driveway, their garage door was open, both their vehicles were damaged and their 2015 Slingshot Polaris three-wheel motorcycle was gone.

A rear door to the home was ajar and cabinets in an office were wide open. A spare bedroom was messed up and a number of items were determined to be missing from their home. The items included a drill, a snorkel mask, a battery charger, a cane, a woman’s shawl and hedge clippers.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies checked with the Stonecrest gate attendant and viewed video surveillance that showed a man leaving on the motorcycle.

The missing motorcycle and the items were discovered at a Summerfield residence not far from Stonecrest. Inside they found 25-year-old Wayne Frazier, hiding under a mattress.

He was arrested on charges of burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief. He was booked at the Marion County Jail on $26,000 bond.

Detectives believe that Frazier may also be responsible for other crimes in the Summerfield area. If you have any information on any incident that Frazier may have been involved in, contact Detective Adrian Lewis at 352-438-5938.
