A 56-year-old man was arrested Saturday night when he went to retrieve his prosthetic leg from his mother’s home in the Village of Silver Lake.
Daniel Vincent Whitmore, who had been living with his mother, was served Jan. 23 with notice that his mother had obtained a temporary injunction for protection against domestic violence.
His mother called police when Whitmore showed up at her home at 9:45 p.m. Saturday and began arguing with her.
When police officers arrived on the scene, Whitmore admitted he was aware of the injunction ordering him to stay away from his mother’s property, but said he wanted to retrieve his belongings, notably his prosthetic leg. He said he could not call law enforcement to assist in the retrieval of his belongings because his cell phone battery was dead.
Whitmore appeared to have arrived in a golf cart, an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department indicated.
He was taken into custody and booked at the Lake County Jail where bond was set at $1,000.
