Second restaurant in a month to shutter in Spanish Springs Town Square

After five years, Athens NY Restaurant will be closing its doors in Spanish Springs Town Square.

The restaurant’s last day in business will be this Sunday.

The restaurant’s owners said in an email to loyal customers that their lease is coming to an end with The Villages and Athens NY Restaurant had hoped to renew it.

“However they have other plans for this space and decided not to renew our lease,” the email said.

The restaurant’s owners will open a pair of new establishments called Flapjack Johnny’s. There will be locations in Groveland and Apopka.

The restaurant indicated that those with credits still pending on gift cards should contact them by emailing them here for a refund.

This is the second restaurant to close in Spanish Springs in a month. The Italian restaurant Luigino’s abruptly closed its doors in mid-October.
