A 33-year-old man with a history of arrests on marijuana charges was taken into custody Tuesday night at Southern Trace in The Villages.

Arthur James Crozier, who lives on Woodland Trail in Lady Lake, was pulled over by a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy after the deputy noticed that Crozier was not wearing a seatbelt.

When asking for Crozier’s driver’s license and registration, the deputy detected the odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Crozier showed the deputy a pipe he had been using to smoke marijuana. Crozier asked that he be released with a notice to appear in court, indicating he had been arrested several times for possession of marijuana.

Crozier was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $2,000.

In 2008, Crozier had been arrested in Lake County on a charge of purchasing marijuana. He was sentenced to two months in jail.

In 2011, he was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a suspended sentence of one month and 29 days in jail.

In 2014, he was ticketed for driving without a seatbelt. Later in 2014, he was ticketed for driving with an expired registration.

On Jan. 3, 2015, he was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana. He was sentenced to six months probation.
