Release of FHP report sheds light on collision in The Villages from which injured motorcyclist airlifted

The release of an accident report by the Florida Highway Patrol is shedding light on an accident earlier this month from which an injured motorcyclist was airlifted.

Jose D. Rosa Quiñones, 67, of Oxford, had been riding a 2009 Kawasaki at 1:50 p.m. Nov. 4 northbound on County Road 101, approaching the intersection with Woodridge Drive.

Elaine Martha Morris, 74, of The Villages, had been at the wheel of a 2012 four-door Chevrolet traveling east on Woodridge Drive, and said she did not see the motorcyclist and proceeded into the intersection. The front of her vehicle struck the left side of the motorcycle.

Emergency personnel were on the scene of the Nov. 4 accident.

Quiñones was airlifted to Ocala Regional Medical Center. He had not been wearing a helmet, according to the report.

Morris was ticketed for running a stop sign.
