PWAC’s new pumps being installed to bring down lake level at Lake Sumter

Two new pumps are being installed to bring down the level at Lake Sumter.

The installation is taking place with heavy equipment in the parking lot of the Waterfront Inn, near the dock area that accommodates Dragon Boaters.

The Project Wide Advisory Committee is spending $120,000 on the custom-made pumps. The submersible pumps will have the ability to pump out 5,000 gallons of water per minute.

Heavy duty pumps were being installed this week at Lake Sumter near the Waterfront Inn.

It still could take quite a while for the lake level to come down, District officials have said.

The water will be pumped into retention basins in Community Development District 5.
