The Project Wide Advisory Committee is looking at the possibility of offering an evening informational program to answer questions about the pending embankment project at the Morse Boulevard Bridge.
Community Development District 7 Supervisor Jerry Vicenti proposed the idea at Monday’s PWAC meeting.
He pointed out that PWAC represents 70,000 residents and many of them do not understand the revetment project, which remains in limbo.
“People don’t understand our government,” Vicenti said. “As an elected official, it’s our job to get the information out there.”
Most PWAC members thought the informational program was a good idea, but differed in the approach.
Vicenti wanted a session heavy on questions and answers, while others leaned toward an informational presentation.
Community Development District 8 Supervisor Dennis Hayes pointed to his own experience from a 2015 with a town hall meeting. He said all CDD 8 supervisors reached out to clubs and social groups to ensure the town hall meeting was well attended. He suggested PWAC would have to so the same thing.
CDD 12 Supervisor Patty Hoxie was against the idea, arguing residents “will just be complaining.”
A date has not been set. PWAC members indicated they would like to hold the event during peak occupancy in The Villages.
