Peppertree Apartments resident arrested after marijuana discovered in speeding Subaru Outback

A man who lives in the Peppertree Apartments in Wildwood was arrested early Tuesday morning after marijuana was discovered in a Subaru Outback which had been stopped for speeding.

William Thomas Preble, 26, had been a passenger in the vehicle that was traveling at 56 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone on U.S. 301, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

A K-9 unit arrived on the scene and the dog alerted on the vehicle, indicating the presence of drugs. A bag of marijuana was discovered in the vehicle’s center console.

Preble admitted the marijuana belonged to him.

He was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $1,000.
