Paying double taxes in Village of Pine Ridge?

To the Editor:

As residents of Pine Ridge, will someone please educate us on the following questions?
After attending the Fruitland Park City Commission meeting on, Thursday, Sept. 28, we came away more confused about where our Fruitland Park taxes go.
We are of the understanding that our Fruitland Park taxes cover the following:
• Water management, fire, police, ambulance, trash pick up, public works, sewer.
• As of now, the Irma debris clean up
We also pay The Villages for water, sewer, trash and use The Villages fire and ambulance.
It seems that we are paying for services from Fruitland that we don’t receive, but we are paying The Villages for those same services.
