Patriots fan goes before judge for sentencing in hit-and-run DUI crash

A New England Patriots fan busted earlier this year on a drunk driving charge has been sentenced in the case.

Whitney Elyse Marquette, 36, had been wearing a Tom Brady jersey when she was arrested Jan. 21 at her home in the Village of Mallory Square. On the same day the Patriots had defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars to claim the AFC Championship, Marquette had been tracked down in a hit-and-run crash in The Villages.

Last week in Sumter County Court, Marquette pleaded no contest to charges of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident. She will lose her driver’s license for six months, has been placed on probation for a year and has been ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.

Marquette still faces a charge of driving while license suspended following her arrest in a seat-switching incident on March 5. Her license was suspended at the time, because Marquette had refused a breath test after the Jan. 21 accident.

She’s previously been on probation.

Marquette had been arrested Nov. 28, 2016 on a charge of marijuana possession. She was ordered to perform 25 hours of community service and placed on one year’s probation. She won early termination of her probation on May 4, 2017, according to Sumter County Court records.
