A New England Patriots fan busted earlier this year on a drunk driving charge was arrested again early Tuesday morning.
Whitney Elyse Marquette, 36, had been wearing a Tom Brady jersey when she was arrested Jan. 21 at her home in the Village of Mallory Square. On the same day the Patriots had defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars to claim the AFC Championship, Marquette had been tracked down in a hit-and-run crash in The Villages. Her driver’s license has been suspended because she refused to submit to a breath test.
Marquette had been at the wheel of a dark-colored SUV spotted at about 2 a.m. Tuesday traveling at a high rate of speed on County Road 466, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
As the police officer approached the SUV, he overheard Marquette say, “I do not have a license, get over there.” The officer saw Marquette hop onto the passenger’s lap. It appeared that Marquette and the passenger had been drinking, the report indicated.
Marquette was arrested on a charge of driving while license suspended.
Marquette was arrested by Officer Matthew Duryea who hours earlier had been honored before the Lady Lake Commission with the Lady Lake Police Department Life Saving Award.
