A Lady Lake man who opted to park his 2015 Hyundai on the sidewalk at Best Buy earlier this month found himself with a $116 parking ticket.
The ticket was issued to the car’s owner, 63-year-old Gary Noel Doree of Lady Lake.
When a woman parked her pickup truck in the wrong direction with its wheels facing the side of the roadway on June 21 in the Village of Silver Lake, she also ran afoul of the law. A Lady Lake police officer noticed the bad parking job and walked to the door of the home on Ann Avenue. The officer was greeted by 40-year-old Theresa Mae Strickland. The officer detected the smell of marijuana. When the officer asked Strickland if she had been smoking marijuana she admitted she had and offered to show it to the police officer. She produced a Disney “Frozen” movie tin containing marijuana. She was issued a misdemeanor citation for marijuana possession.
Another wrong-way pickup parker, 56-year-old Robert Suplee of the Village of Silver Lake, was cited when he parked in the wrong direction on Royal Palm Avenue and Dustin Drive on the Historic Side of The Villages. He now faces a $166 fine.
Last month, a Villager was handed a misdemeanor citation for Misuse of 911 after she deliberately blocked traffic on the Historic Side of The Villages. You can read more about that incident HERE
