Orange Blossom Gardens Lions Club encourages golfers to sign up for annual tournament

The Orange Blossom Gardens Lions Club invites you to become part of a Villages tradition by signing up to participate in their 31st annual Charity Shotgun Scramble Golf Outing on Saturday, March 17 at Hacienda Hills Country Club.

It is the longest running golf tournament in the Villages. The selected charity for 2018 is Operation Homebound.

We are donating to Operation Homebound because it is primarily an all-volunteer organization,” said Judy Kohn, vice president of the OBG Lions club. “As we always say where there is a need there is a lion.”

Based out of Northlake Presbyterian Church, the volunteers at Operation Homebound cook and deliver meals to over 200 people daily.

You can sign up individually or as a team of four. Registration is $78 which includes the round of golf, lunch and dinner following the tournament at Paradise Recreation Center. The dinner, catered by Oakwood Grill, is BYOB. Additional people can be added for dinner at $20 per person.

Contests and prizes will also be part of the festive St. Patrick’s Day tournament including a chance to win a golf cart from Villages Golf Cars.

Checks should be made payable to Hacienda Hills CC and mailed to the OBG Lions Club, P.O. Box 1428, Lady Lake, FL, 32159. If you do not have a registration form, include the names of the golfers, their Villages ID# if they are Villages residents and contact information, phone number and e-mail. You do not have to be a Villages resident to participate.

Registration opens at noon, lunch is served until 1:30 pm, the tournament starts at 2 p.m.

“We look forward to this year,” said Kohn. “It is always a good time. What could be better than having fun while helping out a good cause?”

For more information about the golf tournament, contact Judy Kohn at (734) 625-2747.
