There’s a new twist in the status of the controversial pair of speed bumps on the multi-modal path at the entrance to the Village of Bridgeport at Lake Sumter.
Earlier this month, the Community Development District 6 Board of Supervisors voted to remove the speed bumps.
The CDD 6 board voted to remove the speed bumps based on the recommendation of engineer Richard Busche of Kimley-Horn & Associates Inc. You can read his report and recommendation at this link Kimley-Horn report on speed bumps
The removal was to take place after the reconfiguration of the gate at the entrance to the Village of Bridgeport of Lake Sumter which is now finished.
During the course of that project, it was discovered that the piece of property belongs to Community Development District 5, not CDD 6.
“In the course of moving the exit gate, and preparing for additional markings etc., Staff further reviewed the plat for the area. The multi-modal path at this intersection is located in Unit No. 105 which contains a double conveyance; certain properties were conveyed to VCDD6 and to Village Community Development District No. 5 (VCDD5),” District Manager Janet Tutt wrote in a memo to CDD 5 supervisors.
So now, the fate of those speed bumps will be up to the five supervisors of CDD 5. They will meet at 8 a.m. Friday at the District Office located at 984 Old Mill Run in Lake Sumter Landing. The District Office is located above Starbucks. The meeting is open to the public.
