Jerome Linus

A New Jersey snowbird was arrested after crashing into two RVs and a pickup truck at Recreation Plantation in Lady Lake.

A woman had been at home in her RV early Sunday morning when she heard a loud bang, looked out the window and saw that a 2012 Ford pickup had backed into a neighbor’s RV, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The truck then lunged forward and struck another RV and a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup with Ontario license plates.

She saw 70-year-old Jerome Linus get out of his pickup and go into his RV.

Police located Linus and asked him to take part in field sobriety exercises. At one point, he complained that he couldn’t perform the exercises if he was sober. He provided breath samples that registered .095 and .104 blood alcohol content.

He admitted he had been drinking bourbon. He also admitted to taking Xanax and sleep medication.

He was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and booked at the Lake County Jail. He was released after posting $1,000 bond.
