McCall’s Tavern employee involved in altercation dies of injuries

A 26-year-old employee of McCall’s Tavern has died of injuries suffered in an altercation Sunday night.

Austin Stevens, who lived in Leesburg, was initially taken to The Villages Regional Hospital, but later transferred by helicopter to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Lady Lake Police Chief Chris McKinstry indicated Thursday night that more information about the incident would likely be released today. Earlier, police had said the altercation involving several people had occurred at the intersection of Alzono Avenue and Del Mar Drive, a short distance from the Spanish Springs restaurant where Stevens worked. Police indicated that the parties involved in the altercation have been identified. No arrests have been made in the incident.
