A Sumter County sheriff’s deputy spotted a car driving in reverse at 2:45 a.m. Saturday at Chase Bank on Parr Drive. The deputy pulled in and saw Christopher Beauchemin of Oxford holding a large palm tree branch while standing next to his vehicle, according to an arrest report. Beauchemin had stopped to use the ATM and left his car running, the report indicated.

The deputy asked Beauchemin why he was holding the palm branch and he responded that he thought part of his car had fallen off.

A check revealed that Beauchemin has a business purposes only drivers license due to a pending drunk driving case in Lake County. You can read about that arrest HERE

He told the deputy he had consumed a couple of drinks at the BodyShots strip club in Ocala and was on his way home, the arrest report indicated.

He failed field sobriety exercises.

He later provided breath samples registering .064 and .059 blood alcohol content. The deputy suspected drug use, and Beauchemin was asked to provide a urine specimen.

He was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.
