A man foaming at the mouth from drug use was arrested early Friday morning by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies.
The sheriff’s office responded to the 9400 block of County Road 231 where a man was banging on a door yelling, “Let me in,” according to an arrest report.
Demond Lydell Corbin, 42, who is homeless, fled on foot when deputies arrived on the scene. He was chased down and taken into custody.
He was unable to stand still or concentrate, “talking in circles” and stating someone “kidnapped my family” with white foam coming from his mouth.
“Based on my prior law enforcement interactions I determined the defendant was under the influence of narcotics,” the deputy wrote in the arrest report.
While on the way to the Sumter County Detention Center, Corbin kept trying to unbuckle his safety belt and open the door of the patrol car.
He has multiple previous arrests on charges of resisting law enforcement.
He was booked at the jail on $2,000 bond.
