A man who recently escaped prosecution in the drugging and sexual assault of a woman, landed back behind bars this week.
Dustin Carter Mayo, 29, of Wildwood was arrested after he was spotted at 11:41 p.m. Wednesday on State Road 44 driving a black Chevrolet Cavalier with a license plate that belonged to a white GMC utility vehicle.
Mayo said he had recently purchased the vehicle and had not had time to register it with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. He was arrested and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center
Mayo had been arrested last year in the drugging and sexual assault of a woman. You can read about that case HERE. However, in November State Attorney Brad King announced that the evidence was “legally insufficient to prove guilt.” Mayo is still facing drug charges and is due back in Sumter County Court later this month.
