A 22-year-old Lady Lake man has been arrested, accused of burglarizing a home in the Oakland Hills community.

Jake Lee Sheeler was arrested Tuesday on felony charges of burglary and larceny. He is being held without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.

A woman residing on County Road 109D reported to Sumter County sheriff’s deputies that blank checks, an Android tablet, jewelry and other items had been taken from her home on the weekend of Nov. 1 and 2. The items have a value of more than $2,700.

She made contact with a neighbor, suspecting his live-in nephew as having taken the items, the arrest report indicated.

On Nov. 3, she learned from Regions Bank in Lady Lake that someone had fraudulently attempted to cash one of her stolen personal checks.

The bank teller was able to pick Sheeler out of a photo lineup.

Sheeler had been out on bond on a narcotics charge in Lake County. He also has an active California warrant for possession of a controlled substance, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.
