A 41-year-old Oxford man is free on $2,000 bond after he allegedly participated in a theft from the electronics department and fled Target at Rolling Acres Shopping Plaza.

Matthew L. Branson had been working in concert with another individual in the incident Friday afternoon, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

Branson allegedly distracted a sales clerk while the other individual took an item, the report indicated. A loss prevention officer tried to detain them as they attempted to leave the store, but after a struggle, they were able to run away.

A police officer apprehended Branson who was identified by store personnel.

Branson is facing charges of retail theft and resisting a merchant without violence. He was booked at the Lake County Jail.
