A 36-year-old Fruitland Park man was arrested after allegedly stealing a woman’s motorized scooter on Saturday.

The woman said she had been eating in her home at about 8 p.m. when her dogs started barking. She went outside to investigate and saw that her Schwinn electric scooter was missing from the porch. She got into her car to see if she could find it and spotted Reinaldo Ayala riding her scooter. When she yelled at him and told him she wanted her scooter back, he fled into a wooded area, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.

Ayala, who moved here recently from New York, is also a suspect in the theft of a three-wheel bicycle and a burglary at a business.

He was booked on $13,000 bond at the Lake County Jail.
