Man arrested after altercation involving two women in Summerfield

A man was arrested after an altercation involving two women on Thursday in Summerfield.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to a home at SE 161st Place in reference to a battery. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim who stated that during a verbal argument with 60-year-old Walter Ayala, he pushed and slapped her in the face with an open hand. The victim stated she was in bed when she heard Ayala and her daughter arguing. She got out of bed and approached Ayala, asking him to leave the residence. Ayala began pushing her around and slapped her in the face, then left the residence.

The daughter provided a similar account.

Ayala was placed under arrest and transported to Marion County Jail.

Ayala has been arrested before for battery in 2016.
