Major pair of upsets Tuesday as incumbents fall in CDD 6 and 8

A big pair of upsets in Community Development Districts 6 and 8 as incumbents Russ D’Emidio and Duane Johnson were knocked off by challengers.

D’Emidio collected 2,548 votes to Donna Kempa’s 3,150 votes. Kempa is an active member of the Property Owners Association.

Meanwhile, Johnson collected 1,819 votes while challenger Ray Banks Jr. got 2,096 votes in CDD 8. Also in CDD 8, newcomer Victor Ray won election as a supervisor, defeating opponent Dick Wedding.

Meanwhile, Ellen Cora and Clyde Long breezed to re-election in Community Development District 1.

Cora defeated Craig Estep and Long easily outdistanced challenger Peter Pittsburgh.

In CDD 5, incumbent Jerry Knoll easily fended off challenger Carolyn Reichel.

In CDD 7, Dennis Broedlin defeated Joseph Scholosser. Broedlin will replace Niles Getz who opted not to run again.
