A Village of Lynnhaven couple was shocked when their decked-out golf cart was stolen when they spent an evening at Spanish Springs Town Square.

Santo and Rose Saia parked their 2008 Columbia ParCar electric golf cart at 6:30 p.m. July 20 on Alonzo Avenue near the Rialto Theater. Santo removed the key and put it in his pocket.

Rose needed to drop off her watch at a booth at the square for repair. They went to dinner and later returned to retrieve the watch. When they walked to where they had parked their golf cart, they were stunned to see it had vanished.

They contacted police who helped them search the area, but they had no luck finding the golf cart.

The golf cart is a beige/coffee colored four-seater with “Santo” and “Rose” on the front and lights that run down the side. There is a gold-colored plate on the rear that reads “The Villages” and a gold-colored plate on the front that reads “Long Island.” The golf cart also has a sunset palm emblem on the front.

In the compartments of the golf were a heater, a radio, six speakers and a garage door opener.

“I cannot believe it,” said Santo, who moved here with his wife nine years ago. “What kind of people are we getting at Spanish Springs Town Square?”

He encourages his fellow Villagers to be vigilant.

“We think we live in a bubble,” he said. “We don’t.”
