A 25-year-old Lady Lake woman has been ordered not to consume or possess alcohol as a result of a rear-end collision last month in The Villages.
Shawna Danielle Sexton had been at the wheel of a 2017 Chevy Cruze shortly before 2 a.m. Jan. 14 traveling eastbound on La Grande Boulevard near U.S. Hwy. 27/441 when she stopped at a stop sign and her vehicle was rear-ended by a 2014 Nissan, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Sexton pulled her vehicle into the parking lot of the nearby Applebee’s restaurant so the police could conduct an investigation into the accident. It appeared Sexton had been drinking. She struggled through field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that registered .137 and .133 blood alcohol content.
In Lake County Court on Jan. 31, Sexton pleaded no contest to a charge of driving under the influence.
She has been ordered to attend DUI school, she has been placed on probation for 12 months, she has been ordered to participate in a Victim Awareness Panel and perform 50 hours of community service. She has also been ordered to seek an alcohol evaluation and seek recommended treatment as well as not to possess or consume alcohol.
