The Lady Lake Commission will take up the issue of the “Berlin Wall” when members meet at 6 p.m. today at Lady Lake Town Hall.

The wall caused a firestorm in The Villages this past week when it cut residents off from medical appointments and shopping.

The wall at Paradise Drive was erected sometime the previous weekend.

Now, the commission will attempt to determine why and how the wall had been erected and why the proper permitting process was not followed.

“We have a lot of questions and we will attempt to get to the bottom of it Monday,” Lady Lake Mayor Jim Richards said Friday evening as he and fellow Villagers watched the dismantling of the wall.

District Administrator Janet Tutt said in a meeting Thursday morning that the wall had been erected because of “security and liability” concerns but failed to indicate exactly the nature of those concerns.

The meeting is open to the public.
