A 27-year-old Lady Lake man has been jailed on $25,000 bond after he allegedly attempted to choke his wife during an argument over his drinking.

Raymond Francis Hertzfeld of 103 Caroline Ave. was arrested Saturday on a charge of domestic battery by strangulation. He was also charged with violating his probation on prior theft charges.

The wife told police that she had argued with Hertzfeld about his drinking. When she attempted to get into her truck and leave, Hertzfeld grabbed her by the throat and began to choke her, according to the arrest report.

The couple’s children were present during the altercation, according to the report.
