John Rohan receives unusual gift in honor of his 25th year with The Villages

Recreation Director John Rohan received an unusual gift Wednesday in honor of his 25th year with The Villages.

District Manager Janet Tutt praised Rohan’s years of dedication and noted it might be customary to present a longtime employee with a token of appreciation such as a bouquet of flowers.

But that wouldn’t be appropriate for the man whose nickname is “Johnny Trout.”

Instead, to the delight of his fellow Villages District employees, Rohan was presented with a bucket containing water and a live fish.

The presentation was made during the meeting of The Village Center Community Development District Board of Supervisors.

Tutt’s administrative assistant, Brittany Wilson, identified the fish as a Halfmoon Betta.

John Rohan received a Halfmoon Betta in recognition of his 25th year with The Villages.

Rohan has previously been honored with a recreation center named after him.
