A 44-year-old St. Augustine man was arrested Wednesday after he repeatedly called 911 from his campsite at Lake Griffin State Park.
Eduardo Raul Garcia is alleged to have repeatedly called 911 and even flirted with the dispatcher, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The phone calls were traced to Lake Griffin State Park.
Deputies made contact with Garcia who appeared intoxicated and had beer in his tent, the arrest report indicated. A deputy verified it was Garcia’s cell phone from which the calls had been placed.
After being taken into custody and as he was being walked to the patrol car, Garcia threatened to “head butt” and “kill” the deputy. He also spit at the deputy, the report indicated.
He was booked at the Lake County Jail on charges of misuse of 911 and battery on a law enforcement officer.
Bond was set at $2,500.
Garcia had been arrested in January by Clermont police on a charge of assault on law enforcement.
