High-tech cameras captured video of gate crasher at ‘The Wall’ site

Technology may become a foe too powerful for “gate crashers” in The Villages.

The District has been upgrading cameras at gates around The Villages. The new cameras provide “incredible resolution,” District Manager Janet Tutt reported to the Amenity Authority Committee earlier this month.

Case in point: The late-night Friday, June 13 gate crashers at the Medical Gate off Paradise Drive in The Villages. (The site one year ago of “The Wall” controversy.)

The new cameras have provided footage of the golf cart and those in it and could ultimately lead to their prosecution. (Watch the video below)

The footage shows the golf cart arriving at the gate. It shows the driver fumbling around the golf cart searching for something, possibly a gate card. Ultimately the driver appears to get frustrated and plows through the gate.

The Villages Tri-County Medical Center is the owner of the gate and contracts with The Village Center Community Development District for its maintenance and operation. The District was not responsible for the cost of repair to the gate.

However, the more that gate crashers become aware of the new high-tech cameras being installed at gates in The Villages, they might think twice before plowing ahead.
