Guns, drugs seized during check on man sentenced to probation one week earlier

One week after his release from jail, a Fruitland Park man was arrested in a raid that turned up a significant amount of drugs and guns.

An officer with the Florida Department of Corrections had received a tip that 21-year-old Kebram Followell, who was released from the Lake County Jail on Oct. 15, was in possession of illegal weapons and narcotics.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office detectives and Leesburg Police Department detectives were called into assist in a check on Followell at 5110 Robin Drive in Fruitland Park.

Upon entering the residence, Department of Corrections officers located marijuana and several glass pipes at which time detectives secured a search warrant for the residence.

Detectives seized four hand guns to include a 9mm Glock with a 30-round magazine, and a semi auto rifle with a drum-style magazine, loaded with 76 rounds. Approximately 400 rounds in assorted ammunition were also collected. Detectives seized a small amount of heroin, a felony amount of marijuana, a dozen Xanax tablets, digital scales, and several glass pipes. Cash in the amount of $5,500 was seized, along with four counterfeit $50 bills.

Followell has been charged with violation of probation, possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of Xanax, and possession of paraphernalia.

• Amanda Smith, 28, of Fruitland Park, was charged with possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of Xanax, and possession of paraphernalia.

• Daniel Villegas, 22, of Leesburg, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of Xanax, and possession of paraphernalia.

Followell had been arrested this summer on a marijuana charge while he was free on bond.

On Oct. 15 in Lake County Court, Followell pleaded no contest to a charge of possession of more than 20 grams of cannabis. He was sentenced to three years probation and released from jail that day.
