Gail Gwendolyn Work

Gail Gwendolyn Work, 80, of The Villages, FL, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at The Willows, Oxford, FL. Born in Worcester, MA she was the daughter of the late Rita Gabree and step parents Arthur L. and Hazel (Gabree) Work.

Gail served her country in the United States Marine Corps from 1962-65 in air traffic control.

Following her military service she was employed by Grumman Industries in Long Island, NY as a tower supervisor. She retired after 30 years of service.

Gail came to The Villages in 2004 from Long Island, NY. She was an active low-handicap golfer who played by the rules of golf to the letter. She enjoyed classical music, horses, dogs, fishing and boating. Gail was a member of the American Legion Post #347 of Lady Lake.

Besides her mother and step-parents, Gail was predeceased by her brother, Glenn Work, her aunt Phyllis and uncle Jim and her life-partner, Mary Jo Spencer.

She is survived by cousin, Penny Mohr, sister-in-law, Anneliese Work, niece, Susan Work, nephew, Mark Work and partner, Mizzette Fuenzalida.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral & Cremation Life Event Center 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Gail’s memory may be made to the Young Performing Artists, Inc. Scholarship Fund, 9060 County Road 231, Wildwood, FL 34785.
