A 37-year-old Fruitland Park man is free on $5,000 bond following his arrest Tuesday on a felony charge of domestic battery.

A neighbor alerted law enforcement to a disturbance on Grizzard Street, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.

Joseph Casteel’s mother told police that her son had choked her and threw her on a bed in a mobile home they share with Casteel’s girlfriend.

A check showed Casteel had previously been arrested on domestic violence charges, the arrest report indicated.

Casteel is due for arraignment March 2 in Lake County Court.
