Former CDD 6 supervisor among applicants for vacant seat on CDD 3 board

Donna Kempa

A former Community Development District 6 supervisor is among the applicants for a vacant seat on the Community Development District 3 board.

Donna Kempa, a resident of the Village of Glenbrook, is among three applicants who are seeking appointment to the vacancy created by the death of Supervisor Marie McAvoy earlier this year.

In 2014, Kempa won in an upset by defeating incumbent CDD 6 Supervisor Russ D’Emidio. Kempa collected 3,150 votes to D’Emidio’s 2,548 votes. She resigned from the seat in November 2015 when she moved out of CDD 6.

The other applicants are:

• Max Bohnstedt, of the Village of Polo Ridge. Before moving to The Villages, he worked in government finance. He has served as president of the Village Woodworking Club, auditor of the Polo Ridge Social Club and president of the Polo/Glen Bowling League.

• Shirley Manthorne, also of the Village of Polo Ridge. Manthorne has served since 2013 as CDD 3’s representative on the Architectural Review Committee. She also has served as secretary of Polo Ridge Social Club.

Applications for the CDD 3 seat must be submitted to the District Clerk no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 31 at the District Office, 984 Old Mill Run, The Villages.

CDD 3 supervisors are hoping to make an appointment in August to fill the vacancy.
