Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched Tuesday afternoon to a residential structure fire located in Del Webb Spruce Creek on Southeast 137th Loop in Summerfield.
Upon arrival at 2:17 p.m., firefighters found heavy smoke and flames were visible coming from the garage area. Further investigation showed flames spreading into the attic space. Firefighters from Ladder 30 went into immediate attack mode and vented the roof. With the exterior roof conditions deteriorating rapidly, on-scene command ordered an immediate evacuation of the structure. Firefighters also protected adjacent structures from exposure.
