Early voting for Primary Election kicks off this week in tri-county area

Tri-county residents wishing to vote early in this year’s Primary Election will have the chance to do so in the days ahead.

The Primary Election will be held Aug. 28, but many in Florida – especially Villagers – will make it a point to take part in the early voting period to avoid lines that are likely to form at the polls during the Nov. 6 General Election.
Those wishing to vote early in Sumter County can do so beginning Saturday, Aug. 18 through Saturday, Aug. 25 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sumter County early voting locations are:

  • Laurel Manor Recreation Center (Washington and Jefferson rooms), 1985 Laurel Manor Dr., The Villages;
  • Allamanda Recreation Center (Gardenia Room), 1515 St. Charles Pl., The Villages;
  • Rohan Recreation Center (Lake Miona and Savannah rooms), 850 Kristine Way, The Villages;
  • Tierra Del Sol Recreation Center, 808 San Marino Dr., The Villages;
  • Bushnell Annex, 316 East Anderson Ave., Bushnell;
  • The Villages Sumter County Service Center, 7375 Powell Rd., Room #102, Wildwood.

In Lake County, early voting begins Thursday, Aug. 16 and runs through Saturday, Aug. 25. Sites are open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Those locations are:

  • Lady Lake Public Library, 225 W. Guava St., second floor, Lady Lake;
  • Leesburg Public Library, 100 E. Main St., Room B, Leesburg;
  • Cagan Crossings Community Library, 16729 Cagan Oaks, Clermont;
  • Cooper Memorial Library, 2525 Oakley Seaver Dr., Clermont;
  • Eustis Service Center, 301 Ward Ave., Eustis;
  • Lake County Administration Building, 315 W. Main St., second floor, Tavares;
  • Lake County Supervisor of Elections Office, 1898 E. Burleigh Blvd., Tavares;
  • Lake Receptions, 4425 N. Hwy. 19A, Mount Dora;
  • Minneola City Hall, 800 N. U.S. Hwy. 27, Minneola;
  • Southside Umatilla Community Center, 17107 Ball Park Rd., Umatilla.

Marion County residents can take advantage of the early voting period beginning Saturday, Aug. 18 through Saturday, Aug. 25. Sites will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and are located at:

  • Mulberry Grove Recreation Center (Liberty Room), 8445 SE 165th Mulberry Ln., The Villages;
  • Belleview Public Library, 13145 SE Hwy. 484, Belleview;
  • Forest Public Library, 905 S Hwy. 314A, Ocklawaha;
  • Election Center, 981 NE 16th St., Ocala;133,
  • Deputy Brian Litz Building, 9048 SW Hwy. 200, Ocala;
  • Dunnellon Public Library, 20351 Robinson Rd., Dunnellon;
  • Freedom Public Library, 5870 SW 95th St., Ocala;
  • Reddick Community Center, 4345 NW 152nd St., Reddick;
  • Silver Springs Shores Community Center, 590 Silver Rd., Ocala.

All told, there are 565,961 registered voters in the tri-county area. That breaks down to 95,294 in Sumter County, 231,042 in Lake County and 239,625 in Marion County.
Overall, there are 258,722 Republicans, 173,369 Democrats and 133,870 others. The breakdown by county is:
