Early payment enables Villages chiropractor to avoid probation in leaving scene of accident case

Dr. Timothy Bodily

A Villages chiropractor’s prompt payment of fines and court costs have enabled him to avoid probation in a leaving the scene of an accident case.

Dr. Timothy Bodily, 30, was arrested Nov. 7 after his vehicle struck a light pole at The Quarters apartments on Teague Trail in Lady Lake, according to an arrest report.

It was about 2:30 a.m. when Lady Lake officer found a concrete light pole had been broken in half and discovered silver car parts surrounding the pole.

The police officer drove around in the apartment complex’s parking lot and spotted a silver Dodge Avenger with front-end damage. The officer ran the license plate which led him to Apartment 11105 where the Pinellas Plaza chiropractor answered the door. He appeared to be intoxicated, according to the arrest report. He was slurring his words, could not stand straight and was swaying back and forth.

He admitted his vehicle had struck the light pole.

Bodily entered a plea of no contest on Feb. 6 in Lake County Court. He was sentenced to six months probation, however the judge indicated that if Bodily paid $593.57 in fines and court costs that day, he could avoid the probation sentence. Bodily paid in full that same day.

He was represented attorney J. Scott Herman who has negotiated cases for a Villages line dancing instructor accused of punching a woman at Spanish Springs Town Square, a Village of Hillsborough man accused of attacking a woman in a seat-saving incident at the square, and a waiter accused of pocketing money at a Villages restaurant.
