Deputies nab suspect at Lake Miona Park after woman reports attempted break-in at her home

Eric Alan Feliciano

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies nabbed a suspect on a motorcycle at Lake Miona Park after a woman reported an attempted break-in at her home.

The woman was at home at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday at her residence on County Road 125 when the suspect showed up on a “very loud” motorcycle. The man who had been riding the motorcycle approached her front door and jiggled the handle, determining it was locked. He walked around the home and gained entry to her locked, screened-in back porch. She watched as he put on gloves and pulled a metal object from a backpack. When he noticed her, he ran away, remounted the motorcycle and rode off.

Within 30 minutes, a deputy spotted a motorcyclist at Lake Miona, fitting the woman’s description. The motorcyclist would not obey the deputy’s commands to stop. He was tasered.

The woman was transported in a patrol car to Lake Miona where she identified 24-year-old Eric Alan Feliciano of Summerfield as the man who had broken into her home.

“That’s him and his motorcycle,” the woman told deputies.

He claimed to be working for a real estate company, but provided no proof.

He was arrested on charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.

Feliciano has numerous previous arrest for theft, battery and drug charges.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $32,000 bond.
