U.S. Rep. Daniel Webster is reportedly considering a bid for the Congressional seat being vacated by fellow Republican Rich Nugent.
In District 10, Webster faces an uncertain future. The district is to be redrawn from Republican-friendly terrain including much of Lake County. Former Orlando Police Chief Val Demings has already announced her intent to run in the newly Democratic friendly District 10.
Webster has been in Congress since 2010 representing District 10, a slightly GOP -leaning Central Florida district that includes parts of western Orange County, most of Lake County, as well as a northern section of Polk County.
Nugent’s district includes Sumter, Citrus, Hernando and Marion counties. The Villages falls squarely in Nugent’s district.
Nugent staffer Justin Grabelle, whose parents live in the Village of Amelia, on Monday announced his intent to run as a Republican in District 11, the same day 64-year-old Nugent announced he would not be running again.
