CDD supervisor encouraging his board to go on record with regard to anonymous complaints

A Community Development District supervisor is encouraging his board to go on record with regard to anonymous complaints.

CDD 2 Supervisor Bryan Lifsey is asking his fellow supervisors to stick with the anonymous complaint system currently used to enforce deed compliance.

The present system seems to work reasonably well for The Villages. We have around 150,000 residents. No system will be perfect. Yes, there are always a few who will abuse any system we implement, use it for their own nefarious needs,” Lifsey wrote in a position paper to be presented at Friday’s board meeting.

He noted that Community Development District 7 recently discussed a problem with trolls.

“Trolls are people who apparently have too much time on their hands. They feel the need to make life as miserable and unpleasant as possible for residents of The Villages by driving around and spotting and reporting suspected deed restriction violations – almost exclusively anonymously,” Lifsey wrote in the position paper.

He concluded that CDD 2 does not have a problem with trolls.

He also said that there seems to be no desire to create the “Pink Flamingo Police.”

Lifsey added that the current system “is the best and most cost effective system we have available.”

He acknowledged that not everyone will agree with him but the current system best serves the majority of CDD 2 residents.

CDD 2 will meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the District Office at Lake Sumter Landing.
