A Community Development District supervisor abruptly resigned his office today in the wake of what he described as a vicious email campaign against him.
Supervisor Ray Banks announced at the CDD 8 meeting today that his resignation is effective as of midnight tonight.
Banks ousted CDD 8 incumbent Duane Johnson in November 2014. At the time of his election, Banks had been living with his fiance on Foggy Brook Loop in the Village of St. Charles.
They have since broken up and she put her house up for sale. Technically, he was no longer a resident of CDD 8.
“Then I started getting email. Just vicious stuff,” Banks said.
Enough was enough and Banks announced his resignation, to the surprise of his fellow supervisors.
The question of his residency had not previously been discussed in a public meeting.
CDD 8 supervisors were gracious toward Banks in the immediate aftermath of his announcement. District staff, including District Manager Janet Tutt, offered their thanks for his service and wished him the best.
CDD 8 supervisors will make an appointment to fill the vacancy. That seat will be up for election again in November 2018.
